(116) Exploiting Metabolite-Presenting Molecules for Targeted Therapies
Introduction: MHC class I-related protein (MR1) is a ubiquitously expressed, low polymorphic antigen-presenting molecule conserved across mammalian species. It uniquely presents metabolites to unconventional T cells (MR1Ts), playing a key role in immunity, cancer and autoimmune responses. Leveraging this, we are developing a "Dynamic Targeting" strategy that uses peptides that bind to specific MR1-metabolite complexes for precise drug delivery to diseased cells based on their unique metabolic profiles. This holds great promise for treating infectious diseases and other conditions with altered metabolism.
Learning Objectives:
Explore whether the dynamic targeting approach can be useful for their research.
Develop a drug delivery tool that can target diseased cells through their metabolic signature.
