Bioengineering (Focus Group – BE)
Pulmonary inflammation is triggered by pathogens or irritants, with pro-inflammatory cytokines recruiting immune cells like macrophages, neutrophils, and lymphocytes. Macrophages detect pathogens, secrete cytokines, and regulate the response, but dysregulation can damage tissues. Nanoparticles can modulate inflammation and aid recovery. This study developed biomimetic hybrid nanoparticles with cytokine receptors and sialic acid, evaluating their in vitro performance.
