Gene Delivery and Gene Editing (Focus Group - GDGE)
Photoporation is becoming a key technology for the delivery of cell-impermeable molecules into cells for biomedical purposes (1). Our team has shown that photoporation can be used to perturb the nuclear envelope (NE), which is of interest for effector molecules that modulate gene expression (2). However, the current efficiency of NE photoporation is limited due to a lack of targeting strategies. To achieve a selective enrichment of sensitizing gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) at the NE, we are developing a functionalization strategy based on nanobodies targeting NE-resident proteins.
