Gene Delivery and Gene Editing (Focus Group - GDGE)
Regulatory T cells (Tregs) are immunomodulators that reduce inflammation and promote tissue regeneration. Recently, inducing Tregs has emerged as a promising strategy for tissue regeneration. This process requires initial activation of naive T cells by co-stimulation of CD3 and CD28, and Tregs are induced with additional stimuli including a regulation of gene expression. Notably, down-regulation of the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway has been implicated in promoting Tregs induction. (1)
