(222) Revolutionizing Abuse Deterrence: Caffeine as a Model for Innovative Formulation Technology
Introduction: Prescription drug abuse, particularly involving opioids and psychoactive substances, remains a significant global health crisis. As the need for abuse-deterrent drug formulations evolves, so do the systems designed to address this issue. Using caffeine (BCS Class I) as a model compound, a novel abuse-deterrent formulation has been developed. This formulation employs a co-processed polymeric system Kollidon®SR comprising polyvinyl acetate and povidone to enhance its deterrent properties.
