(248) Polymorphism and crystallinity variation of loratadine in polymeric delivery systems
Introduction: The polymorphism and crystallinity of drugs can significantly influence their physicochemical properties and pharmaceutical performance. Loratadine (LAD), a potent allergy-relief drug, has been found to exhibit one amorphous and two crystalline polymorphs [1]. In this study, we evaluated the morphology of LAD when incorporated into three different polymers using film casting.
Learning Objectives:
Characterize polymorphism and crystallinity of loratadine in polymeric delivery systems
Learn polymorphism transformation and crystallization kinetics
Explore pharmaceutical performances of drug with different polymorphism and crystallinity
