(254) Preparation and evaluation of inhalable nintedanib microparticles using mechanofusion technique
Introduction: Nintedanib, approved for IPF treatment, has low pulmonary bioavailability and systemic toxicity with oral administration, making inhalable dry powder formulations a promising alternative. FCA improves flowability and dispersion in DPI, ensuring uniform drug delivery and efficiency. Mechanofusion uses high-speed rotational force to control interparticle interactions and achieve homogeneity. This study aims to enhance inhalation efficiency and ensure homogeneity and dispersion by optimizing interactions among magnesium stearate (FCA), the carrier, and nintedanib using mechanofusion technology.
Learning Objectives:
Analyze magnesium stearate concentration effects on dispersion in mechanofusion and physical mixing
Explain the role of FCA in enhancing dispersion, and inhalation efficiency in DPI formulations.
