(280) Hyaluronic Acid-Functionalised pH-Responsive Nano-cocktails Targeting Breast Cancer Stem Cells
Introduction: Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are highly resistant to treatment and are considered vital contributors to metastasis and recurrence in breast cancer (BC) [1]. Combining drugs that target multiple pathways has shown the potential to eradicate CSCs [2]. pH-sensitive liposomes (pSL) functionalised with hyaluronic acid (HA) enhance specificity by targeting CD44 receptors overexpressed on CSCs, improving therapeutic efficacy [3]. This study aims to evaluate HA-functionlised pSL loaded with Doxorubicin (DOX) and Bufalin (BUF) to target HER2+ BCSCs, thus potentially reducing metastasis and recurrence.
Learning Objectives:
Investigate CD44-targeted pH-sensitive liposomes for enhanced drug accumulation in cancer tissue.
Evaluate the synergistic effects of two anticancer drugs within the liposomal formulation.
Assess the efficacy of the developed formulation in 2D and 3D cancer models.
