Nanomedicine and Nanoscale Delivery (Focus Group - NND)
Excess adipose tissue poses both health and aesthetic concerns, driving the demand for non-invasive fat reduction. Traditional approaches like liposuction and cryolipolysis have inherent limitations. Polymer-lipid hybrid nanoparticles (PLN) offer a promising alternative by leveraging lipid metabolism to enhance cellular targeting. Moreover, fatty acid (FA) actively participates in adipocyte metabolism. We propose FA-modified PLNs for generating carbon dioxide gas (CO₂) for local fat reduction while enabling monitoring of nanoparticle activity within adipose tissue through ultrasound imaging.
