Ocular Delivery (Focus Group - OcD)
Dry eye disease (DED) is a multifactorial ocular disease accompanied by high tear osmolarity, oxidative stress and surface inflammation that cause significant damage to the ocular surface and discomfort, compromising the patient’s quality of life. Current therapies for DED are very limited. Flavonoids are natural phenolic compounds widely present in different plants possess potent anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic and anti-oxidative properties. By benefitting from pharmacologic effects of flavonoids, we proposed here novel formulations that can be used in combating DED as an alternate therapy.
