(505) Development and Evaluation of a Terbinafine Hydrochloride Film Forming Solution for Athlete’s Foot
Introduction: Athlete's foot (tinea pedis), caused by Trichophyton species, affects about 3% of the global population and causes itching, scaling, erythema, and fissures, which can lead to secondary bacterial infections if untreated. Conventional antifungal treatments often suffer from poor retention and low patient adherence, leading to recurrence. This study explores a film-forming cutaneous solution of Terbinafine hydrochloride using Ethocel™ 10 and Polyox™ N750 to improve drug substantivity, skin retention, and patient compliance compared to conventional treatments.
Learning Objectives:
To list the benefits of once-daily application of the developed formulation for patient compliance.
