(509) Ex vivo platform using viable human skin to study subcutaneous administration of macromolecules
Introduction: Subcutaneous (SC) injection is the principal method for the administration of monoclonal antibodies, peptides, and vaccines, as well as hyaluronic acid (HA)-based formulations. Werecently reported an ex vivo "full thickness" human skin model containing hypodermis that retained viability for up to 9 days and which was used to observethe “bio-stimulating effects” of subcutaneously injected HA products on ECM production1.
Learning Objectives:
Identify key biomarkers.
Optimize workflow to process human skin specimen for bioanalysis.
Establish an ex vivo platform using viable human skin coupled with multiple bioanalytical methods.
