This YSC-led session brings together experienced investigators to provide practical guidance on implementing personalized Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and fostering effective mentoring relationships in academic research settings. Designed for new principal investigators seeking to support early-career scientists, as well as for trainees aiming to initiate meaningful IDP conversations with their mentors, the session offers insights applicable across career stages.
Invited speakers will discuss how to create adaptable, inclusive IDPs that reflect individual goals, backgrounds, and professional trajectories. Topics will include incorporating equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) into mentoring practices; key takeaways from the speakers' own paths to becoming PIs; and strategies for implementing IDPs in remote or cross-cultural settings, including lessons from the YSC Mentorship Program.
Join us to explore how tailored approaches to IDPs can better support and empower the next generation of researchers.
