Introduction: Many solid tumor types (e.g. breast and pancreas) are immunologically cold, which hinders immunotherapy efficacy. Vascular normalization (VN) with low-dose anti-angiogenic drugs can improve T cell infiltration [1] and checkpoint blockade efficacy [2]. Thermal focused ultrasound (tFUS) noninvasively destroys tumor tissue while rendering it more immunologically “visible” through damage-associated molecular pattern and antigen release. Here we combine VN and tFUS to effectively inhibit primary EMT6 breast tumors and generate T cell-dependent anti-tumor immunity.
Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this activity, participants will know
Evaluate if VN can synergize with tFUS to control tumor growth like VN does with other immunotherapy
Assess if combination therapy benefit is limited to primary tumor growth
Determine if the benefits conferred by this combination therapy is T cell-dependent
