Tech Session VII: Alternative Methods to Animal Testing II
Elucidation of Lipid Nanoparticle Fusion Mechanisms Using Artificial Membranes
Friday, July 18, 2025
8:54 AM – 9:05 AM EDT
Introduction: Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) with target cell tropism are essential components of advanced drug delivery systems (DDS), facilitating the efficient delivery of nucleic acid therapeutics[1]. Optimizing the lipid composition of LNPs offers a promising approach, with the potential to maintain cell tropism while minimizing immunogenicity[2]. In a previous report, we demonstrated that AI-assisted methodologies largely improved the efficiency of lipid composition optimization[3]; however, a deeper understanding of the mechanisms by which lipid composition influences cell tropism is still required.
Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this activity, participants will know
Upon completion, participants will be able to analyze principles of lipid nanoparticle (LNP) design.
Upon completion, participants will be able to demonstrate methods to evaluate LNP-cell interactions.
Upon completion, participants will be able to compare data, assess LNP tropism, and propose changes.
