Tech Session VII: Alternative Methods to Animal Testing II
Exploring the Impact of Ion-Releasing Fabrics on Inflammatory Pathways by 3D In-RED In Vitro Model
Friday, July 18, 2025
9:16 AM - 9:27 AM EDT
Location: 123
Introduction: Ion releasing fabrics have demonstrated promising benefits in managing musculoskeletal conditions by reducing inflammation and promoting healing through a non-invasive therapeutic approach1. Despite their clinical application, the cellular mechanisms underlying these effects remain largely unexplored. Clinical evidence suggests that these innovative fabrics, infused with semiconductor materials like germanium, leverage the property of semiconductor elements whereby the resistance of electrons decreases with increasing temperature.
Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this activity, participants will know
Understand cytokine expression in 3D cultures and their role in cellular response mechanisms.
Evaluate the Impact of ion-releasing fabrics on cytokine expression in advanced 3D cultures
Evaluate the reliability of the In-RED model for studying fabric-induced cellular effects.
