Stimuli-responsive bioengineered biomaterials: 3D in vitro models & regenerative medicine therapies

Cellular alignment and bioelectrical stimulation play a pivotal role in various human tissues, including skeletal muscle and spinal cord. In cases of trauma or degenerative diseases, significant clinical challenges remain. Bioengineering and nanomedicine have paved the way for bioinspired and biomimetic strategies to enhance tissue regeneration and study physiological conditions/progresses in vitro as models. Our group explores novel biomaterial-based approaches leveraging bioelectricity, macromolecular crowding, and extracellular matrix (ECM) to recreate biological complexity.
