Head of Novel Agents Department
BRACCO Suisse
Plan-les-Ouates, Switzerland
Samir earned a PhD in chemical engineering from EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) in Lausanne/Switzerland. He has hands-on experience in both academia and industry. His present research focuses on the design and development of ultrasound responsive nano and micron sized contrast agents including nanobubbles, nanodroplets, microbubbles for diagnostic and therapy applications. Several manufacturing processes are investigated with a focus on microfluidics technology to produce size-controlled nanocarriers. Cutting-edge analytics are developped to achieve in depth characterization and control of the formulation CQAs. A better understanding of the encapsulated bubbles/droplets vibrational behavior is addressed using fit-for-purpose acoustical tools. The research is also devoted to the design of efficient freeze-drying processes to improve the product shelf-life. Due to the intrinsic complexity of US responsive agents, a successful translation to the clinic and to the market requires appropriate regulatory path.
