Gustavo Doncel, MD, PhD, is the Scientific and Executive Director of CONRAD (www.conrad.org), a US-based non-profit biomedical R&D organization at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He is also Professor of OBGYN and Microbiology and Molecular Cell Biology. Dr. Doncel’s and CONRAD’s research focuses on innovative user-centered product development, especially in the areas of women’s health and affordable technologies for resource-constrained countries. Dr. Doncel has published more than 200 scientific papers and has been or is a reviewer/advisor for the US National Institutes of Health, the World Health Organization, the European Commission Directorate-General for Research and Innovation and numerous national grant funding agencies and foundations.
