Dr. Islam earned his Ph.D. in Drug Design and Delivery under the mentorship of Professor Hiroshi Maeda—renowned for pioneering the EPR effect—at Kumamoto University, Japan. In recognition of his outstanding research, he was awarded both the Top-Ranked Ph.D. Student Award and the President’s Award in 2021. He is currently serving as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His research focuses on the development of advanced drug delivery systems utilizing a variety of nanocarriers for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and colorectal cancer.
