Postdoctoral fellow
JohnS Hopkins University, United States
Preeti Vyas, PhD, is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Kannan lab at the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, USA. She has a broad background in pharmacology, epilepsy and developmental research with rigorous pre and post-doctoral training in interpreting behavioral and quantitative video-electroencephalographic (EEG) changes associated with different models of epilepsy and neurodevelopmental disorders like Rett syndrome, Syngap1, CDKL5 deficiency disorders, hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy etc. She currently utilizes the mouse model of Rett syndrome, a rabbit model of cerebral palsy, as well as other mouse and rat models of neuropathic pain etc., to evaluate the translational value of clinically relevant dendrimer nanotherapies. As she pursues a career in translational neuroscience, she is primarily interested in the drug discovery and development strategies for these disorders. Her goal is to continue to expand her understanding of disease mechanisms in neurological conditions and work towards developing effective interventions, especially for epilepsy and neurodevelopmental disorders.
