Cristina Fornaguera specializes in designing (nano)formulations for controlled delivery of actives to treat unmet medical needs. During her PhD, she formulated therapeutic polymeric nano-emulsions and nanoparticles (NP) to cross the blood-brain barrier. In her industrial postdoc, she mastered polymeric nanoparticles for crossing other physiological barriers like lung mucosa. She now leads the NanoTherapies group, focusing on designing nucleic acid-based nanotherapeutics and studying how their properties influence on the interaction with physiological membranes. Amongst thier applications, cancer immunotherpies and treatment of neural conditions are highlighted.
