Syracuse, New York, United States
Dr. Andrea Joseph is an Assistant Professor of Biomedical and Chemical Engineering at Syracuse University. Her research bridges engineering and reproductive biology with a dedicated focus on the use of nanotechnology for understanding and improving maternal, fetal, and neonatal health. As an NIH F31 graduate research fellow, Dr. Joseph developed biodegradable, polymeric nanoparticles for treatment of neonatal brain injury. Her research group now investigates how extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from vaginal bacteria are implicated in adverse pregnancy outcomes and how EVs may be engineered for drug delivery. At CRS, she has previously been Treasurer of the Young Scientists Committee and currently serves as Secretary-Treasurer of Women in Science and a regular contributor to the Newsletter.
