Hannah Yamagata is a NSF graduate research fellow and PhD student in bioengineering in the Mitchell Lab at the University of Pennsylvania. The focus of her research is the design and synthesis of novel lipid biomaterials for therapeutic and prophylactic mRNA delivery using lipid nanoparticles (LNP). She has applied her new lipid biomaterials towards developing mRNA LNP vaccines that do not traffic to the liver and plans to apply this new platform towards a range of biomedical applications.
