Gene Delivery and Gene Editing (Focus Group - GDGE)
Chronic wounds represent a significant global burden on healthcare systems worldwide due to their increasing incidence, difficult-to-treat nature, associated comorbidities, and high healthcare costs (1). Small interfering RNA (siRNA) has become a promising technology for the treatment of various diseases, including chronic wound healing. However, its skin delivery is limited by its physicochemical characteristics, which cand be overcome by using nanoparticles, such as nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) functionalized with cationic polymers (2).
