Oral Delivery (Focus Group - OrD)
In a previous work, a floating levodopa (Lev) gastroretentive tube delivery system was introduced. To ensure sufficient gastroretention, a floating time of 8 - 12 hours is required. For safety reasons the delivery system should sink after completed drug release and prior to the next dose to prevent accumulation in the stomach. To achieve a floating time between 6 and 12 h in combination with Lev and carbidopa (CD), 3D molded stoppers containing CD were produced to close the tubes. As CD needs to be absorbed before Lev, a faster release of CD would be beneficial compared to the release of Lev.
