Collagen Microgel 3D Organoid Culture and Extracellular Vesicle Production for Drug Development

Introduction: Collagen is the ideal natural material for mimicking 3D in vivo-like tissue, due to its excellent biocompatibility and interconnected interstitial porous structures which enable cells to navigate the mechanical structure and promote in-vivo like environmental response. However, directly utilizing natural collagen for 3D printing is challenging and currently unattainable [1]. Herein, integrating collagen in the form of microbead into extrusion-based bioprinting could overcome current challenges by applying natural collagen in 3D tissue modeling.
