(486) Dissolving Microneedle Patch for Localized Photodynamic Therapy in Oral Carcinoma
Introduction: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) offers a minimally invasive alternative to existing cancer therapies. However, photosensitizers (PS) are limited by poor stability, skin photosensitivity, low emissive properties, and complex synthesis. Aza-BODIPY derivatives, such as AZP 10, show improved photostability and tunable properties. Dissolvable dual-length microneedles (DMNs) present a promising approach, enabling localized delivery of AZP 10 at varying tissue depths, minimizing systemic exposure, and enhancing PDT efficacy. This study investigates AZP 10-loaded DMNs for targeted oral cancer treatment.
Learning Objectives:
Learn the fabrication of dual-length DMNs loaded with the AZP 10 for localized drug delivery.
Investigate the therapeutic efficacy of AZP 10 in different cell lines and tumor models.
Learn the characterization of blank and AZP 10 dissolvable microneedles.
